The Yorkshire and Humber School for Social Entrepreneurs (SSE)

Learning and Support for Social Entrepreneurs

The Yorkshire & Humber School for Social Entrepreneurs (SSE) is now recruiting participants for its next programme starting in September 2010.

If you...

  • Are planning to set up a social enterprise
  • Have a great idea for a community project or initiative
  • Are already running a social enterprise or community organisation and want to develop and expand it
  • Are thinking about new services or planning to trade for the first time

...then the School for Social Entrepreneurs (SSE) could be for you.

SSE is a place for people setting up or running an organisation or enterprise that will benefit the community. It offers a unique opportunity for you to learn and develop your skills alongside a group of other people with similar aspirations. Support, ideas, information, resources and networking. All in one place.

The next SSE programme will run from September 2010 to March 2011 and offers:

  • Weekly study sessions (Thursdays, 10am to 4pm)
  • Expert sessions on a wide range of subjects including finance, marketing and legal structures
  • ‘Tell all’ learning sessions with successful social entrepreneurs—hear about their successes, their occasional failures and most importantly, what they learnt along the way
  • Action learning sets—unlock your ideas and come up with creative new solutions
  • One to one coaching
  • Visits to inspirational projects and social enterprises—see how others do it
  • Peer learning & support—share ideas, network and trade with other participants on the programme

The programme will is open to anyone living in the Yorkshire & Humber region who is able to travel to Leeds to participate.

Places on the programme are limited so anyone interested should apply as early as possible. Interviews will take place in August.

The costs of this programme are heavily subsidised through grants and sponsorship. In addition, full bursaries will be available resulting in a limited number of free places.
