Sheffield City Council-Firs Hill Community Primary School Catering Contract
The contract is to provide catering services to Firs Hill that encompasses but is not limited to the school meal provision. The school is highly multi-racial and has some 91% of pupils from 16 different ethnic minority groups. 87% have English as an additional language. As the second most deprived area in the city the School Free school meal entitlement and uptake is relatively high.
The incumbent contractor has worked in partnership with pupils, parents and the community to develop a 3 week menu rota that meets the needs of the school community. The catering team have worked with the school to run meetings and workshops with parents and develop food that the children will not only enjoy but that meet the school nutritional standards as set out by the DCSF September 2009. The successful contractor will be able to:- -Provide healthy and nutritious food, that meets all associated legislation, to all users of the catering facilities, thus fostering the well being of all concerned. -Provide food that appeals to the tastes of the diverse ethnic mix of pupils, staff, parents and community. -Create an enjoyable dining experience for pupils and staff that contribute to their education and social skills. -Provide catering that supports and encourages extended school activities. This will include the existing breakfast and after school clubs but should also cover other activities by parents and the wider community both during and out of school hours as well as school holidays. -Develop catering facilities from the school for activities in the wider community. This might include catering for weddings, parties or other social events. -Increase employment opportunities in the local community, possibly by developing catering at the school into community business. The contractor will be expected to provide strong and imaginative leadership for the catering staff, working within the school, and bidders will be expected to describe how this will be achieved.Contract Term: The Contract will be let for a period of 3 years from the 4th October 2010 to the 30th September 2013 with an option to extend for a further 2 years subject to customer satisfaction.
