From January 2011 anyone in receipt of government funding for teaching will require a PTLLS certificate. PTLLS stands for "Preparing to Teach in the Lifelong Learning Sector". Essentially anyone who delivers learning to one or more individuals will be covered by this regulation, whether the teaching is delivered in a classroom or at business premises. It will cover full time teachers delivering lessons in a college and at the same time will cover trainers and assessors providing courses and underpinning knowledge for work and vocational qualifications. The intention with PTLLS is to have a "one size fits all" qualification which will give all qualified teachers a substantive qualification that allows them to pass the necessary threshold to teach.

Learning and Skills VCS Network 'Technology Beacon' Training
Shipley College, Victoria Road, Saltaire, West Yorkshire, BD18 3LQ
10.00-12.30, Wednesday 25 April & Wednesday 23 May 2012
Ten people will become ‘Technology Beacons’ for the Involve Yorkshire & Humber's Learning and Skills VCS Network Virtual Network project.
These are valuable, free training opportunities with free equipment that will assist your organisation to develop virtual forms of collective communication.
Involve Y&H is running this partnership project with Shipley College to convert the physical meetings of the LSVN to virtual ones – but it’s essential that in doing this we take all our members with us.
There are two training days for ten volunteers to be Technology Beacons – basically these people need to have a basic grasp of IT and be willing to learn. Tara Phelan, leading the training, is an experienced trainer at Shipley College who has developed ways of doing this and would like to train LSVN members.
Price
This training is free to all members of the Network. You can join the Network by completing the membership form and giving it to us on the day.
